MICHAEL EUGENE “MIKE” DOWLER, age 66, of Washington CH, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 7:55 p.m. at his home. His death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born on December 6, 1954 in Fayette County to Herman and Imogene (Cox) Dowler. He was a 1973 graduate of Miami Trace High School. Mike retired in 2013 from the Chillicothe Correctional Institution where he worked as a Correctional Officer for 27 years. He was named Correctional Officer of the year in 2006. Mike was an active member at the Fayette County YMCA. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Mike was known for his kind, gentle, and giving heart. He enjoyed the great outdoors, gardening, bike riding, swimming, playing softball, and being with his family.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Bill Williams; and step-grandson, Dalton Gene Swords.
Survivors include his soul mate of 30 years, Brendee Billings; his daughters, Darci Michelle (Travis) Moore, Desiree Marie “Desi” (Adam) Reno, and Deanna Miranda “Dani” (Adam) Knisley; step-children, Sherry (Eric) Swords, and Eric (Mary) Billings; grandchildren, Mason and Alli Moore, Kamri and Ava Reno, and Byren, Easton, and Adleigh Knisley; sister, Regina Sue Williams and her significant other, Jay Bloomer; nephew, Billy (Lindsay) Williams; niece, Michaela Marie (Colton) Sanderson; great-nieces and nephew, Elena and Marina Sanderson, and Aiden Williams; and friend, Mike Mollett. Also surviving are several cousins and a host of dear and special friends.
The memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Stulley officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
