Phyllis Annette Richard

PHYLLIS ANNETTE RICHARD, age 83, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Signature Healthcare of Fayette County.

She was born on July 9, 1941 in Wilmington, Ohio to Glenn Sherman and Reba Jeanne (Wheeler) Grooms. She was a graduate of Martinsville High School in Clinton County. Phyllis retired from the late Dr. Thomas K. Beyl’s dentistry office where she had worked as a secretary for many years. She enjoyed playing the organ, spending time with her grandchildren, and collecting roosters.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn Grooms, and Reba Stout and her beloved husband, James L. Richard, whom she married on November 20, 1959.

Survivors include her daughters, Reba Kay Rittenhouse, and Julie Annette (James) Greenly; grandchildren, Carrie Jo Cottrell, Christopher Dwayne Simmons, Nathaniel James Greenly, and Nicholas Edward (Trina) Greenly; great-grandchildren, Tobi Lea, Davon’, Darren, Donovan, and Madison; and two great-great-grandchildren, Rachelyn Marie, and Adrian James; and sister, Linda Richie. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Kathy Yoakum officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In keeping with her wishes, cremation is to follow.
