Priscilla Anne "Tillie" Adams

PRISCILLA ANNE “TILLIE” ADAMS, age 86, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024 at her home while surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 19, 1938 in Fayette County to the late Homer W. and Anna M. (Kelley) Rayburn. She was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School. Tillie was a homemaker and a babysitter. She adored her job as a babysitter and loved each child as her own. Tillie and her husband, Joseph, attended the Chapel of Hope Church in Greenfield. She enjoyed singing gospel music, sewing, spending time with her family, and was an avid bear collector.

In addition to her parents, Tillie was preceded in death by her siblings, Jeannie (Norman “Duke”) Adams, Alice Puckett, and Wayne Leroy (Sonny) Rayburn; brother-in-law, Dave Perry; and sisters-in-law, Rosemary Rayburn, Patricia (Roger) Snively, and Sue Kelley.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Joseph Gerwood Adams, whom she married on December 26, 1957; her children, Joseph L. Adams, Julia L. (Clay) Criswell, and Jennifer L. (Kevin) Gibbs; grandchildren, Joseph W. Adams, Jordan T. Adams, Jacob L. Adams, Cooper J. (Nikki) Criswell, Jon R. (Samantha) Gibbs, Noah G. Gibbs, and Gabrielle A. Gibbs; great-grandchildren, Jasper, Jeremy, Jillian, Jordan Taylor, Mary Jane, Jasta, Collins Jo, Olivia, Malachi, and Benjamin; siblings, Barb (Marvin) Bick, Hughey (Mary) Rayburn, Gary Robert Rayburn, and Marsha Perry; sister-in-law, Donna Jean Rayburn; brothers-in-law, Gary Kelly, and Dave Puckett; and her faithful canine companion, Otis. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Duvall officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
