Rebecca (Becky) June Barrett

REBECCA (BECKY) JUNE BARRETT, 73, of Bloomingburg, Ohio, was born August 28, 1951, to the late Thomas J. and Alice E. Dunaway. Becky took her last breath on this earth on May 14 at 3:11 am. Becky passed peacefully from this life in her home, surrounded by many loved ones, and was greeted in Heaven by many who have proceeded her. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, mom was the heart of our family and the embodiment of unconditional love. She dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting her children and grandchildren, whom she raised with grace, strength, and seemingly endless patience. Home was wherever mom was and was always a place of warmth, laughter, and open arms.

Becky leaves behind her dedicated husband of 54 years, David Barrett, four loving children, David (Jami Harlan) Barrett, Michael (Miranda Thacker) Barrett, Daniel (Angie) Barrett, and Sharon (Emily Hughart) Barrett; nine amazing grandchildren who love to spend time arguing over who is grandma’s favorite, Scott, Joshua, Julia, Jakob, Amanda, Becky Sue, Tommie Ann, Colten, and David; nine beautiful great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Matthias, Madeline ‘Cranberry’, Emmett, Lynkon, Colt, Kaylynn, Kylie, and Archer; multiple brothers and sisters, Juanita (Mike) Murphy, Linda Ferguson, Thomas (Vonnie) Dunaway, Mary (Jessy) Flanary, Hazel (Don) Gheen, Nellie (Brent) Holbrook, Nancy Cantrell, James Dunaway, Ronald (Ruby) Carter, Fredrick ‘Gene’ Dunaway, Jeff Dunaway, and Marie Dunaway; several nieces, nephews, and friends including special family friends Margaret Thomas, Amy Horton, and Grace Horton. In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by a brother Franklin Dunaway, a daughter-in-law Tammy Barrett, and four great-grandchildren, Waylon, Charlie, Xavier, and Jessie, which she has already met with in Heaven.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in the Summers Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bloomingburg Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, the evening before the service, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
