Obituary

RICHARD LEE “RICK” SCHRECKENGAUST, age70, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. His death was sudden and unexpected.

He was born on October 17, 1951 in Fayette County to the late Richard and Elva (Smith) Schreckengaust. He was a 1970 graduate of Springfield North High School in Springfield, Ohio. Rick proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. He was a self-employed general contractor but mostly worked an as electrician and plumber. Rick was a faithful member at the LifeConnect Church in Washington CH. He enjoyed working, computers, spreading the Word of God, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Katheryn (Anders) Schreckengaust, whom he married on May 4, 1986; his children, Greg A. (Tarah) Schreckengaust, Joshua A. Schreckengaust, Jason A. Smith, James R. (Charlene) Smith, and Jacob M. (Becky) Smith; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild arriving in December; and siblings, Dorothy Ackerman, John Schreckengaust, and Ellen Schreckengaust. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Wolfe officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Cremation will take place following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Summers Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
