ROBERT LEE “BOB” MALONE, SR., age 81, of Washington CH, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 6:29 p.m. at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center with his bride of almost 60 years by his side.
He was born on June 6, 1940 in Highland County, Ohio to the late Elmer and Lucille (Taylor) Malone. He attended Greenfield McClain High School and later earned his GED. Bob proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era and served a tour in Vietnam. He retired from CorTec in 1999. Bob was active in many different organizations including: Current President of the Fayette County Veterans Service Commission, former Commander of the VFW and currently serving as Quartermaster of the VFW Post 3762, former Commander of the DAV, life member of AMVETS Post 61 Rocky Fork Lake, life member of the Hillsboro Eagles 1161, and a former member of the Fayette County Honor Guard. Bob was also a faithful member at the Harvest Life Church and served as a board member for several years. He enjoyed thirty years of camping at Shady Trails Campground at Rocky Fork Lake, boating, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Bob was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cincinnati Bengals Fan.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Ann (Robison) Malone, whom he married on June 30, 1962; his children, Robert L. II (Nikki) Malone, Brenda S. (Marty) Whitmer, Barbara A. (Dan) Hurley, and Betty J. (Dr. Mark) Hodges; grandchildren, Dereck Lee (Shelley Meeks) Malone, Nathanial Joseph Malone, Emma Dawn Malone, Anna Mae Malone, Braylynn Sue Malone, Brian David Malone, Donald Whitmer, Jr., Brandi M. (Adam) Gullett, Kristen Leann (Mathew) Edmonson, Alissa Nicole Whitmer, Brittany Nichole (Michael) Urbanowicz, Joshua Lee (Lizzie) Massie, Amanda Jo (Pastor Chris) Conley, Jessika Dawn (Matt) Cook, and Kylie Nicole (Jacob) Haldeman; and sixteen great-grandchildren and Baby Girl Haldeman arriving in April. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Family and friends may visit at The Gathering Place Church, 240 Courthouse Pkwy, Washington CH, OH 43160, on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 4-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Chris Conley officiating. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow.
