Ronald “Ron” Campton, age 88 of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Washington Court House, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, after a rapid decline in health. He was born on December 21, 1935 in West Union, Ohio and was the son of the late Estel Harold and Mary Louise (Maines) Campton.
Mr. Campton served his country in both the Marines and the Air Force. Following his time in the service, he worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation for over 30 years. After his retirement, he volunteered at Fayette County Memorial Hospital in Washington C.H., where he met his second wife, the former, Nancy Weaver. They enjoyed almost 25 years together, spending the last ten years in Florida.
Ron is predeceased by his first wife, Lily, who passed in 1993; and his brother, Donald.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his brothers, Clyde (Sandy) Campton and Wayne (Jacalyn) Campton, both of Hillsboro; Nancy’s four children, Jonathon (Laura) Rose of Madison, Ohio; Sandra Rose (Dennis Dressel) of Collinsville, Illinois; Mark Rose of Toledo, Ohio; and Carolyn Weaver of North Fort Myers, Florida. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass in Ron’s name will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. C.M. Haddad officiating. A graveside service and burial will follow in St. Colman Cemetery beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Military Rites accorded by the Fayette County Honor Guard.
His widow, Nancy, being unable to travel, will be with you in spirit as you honor Ron’s life.
