SHARON KAY KNISLEY, age 72, of Washington CH, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 8:19 a.m. while surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 8, 1949 in Fayette County to Norman and Marjorie (Grooms) Copas. She attended Washington High School and obtained her GED in 1976. Sharon worked at MWV Calmar for 17 years and retired from the Fayette Progressive School. After retirement, Sharon drove the bus for Fayette County Head Start. Sharon was a member at Heritage Memorial Church. She enjoyed crocheting and being “Nan Nan” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert L. Knisley, whom she married on July 2, 1971; and brother, Virgil “Bootie” Copas.
Survivors include her daughters, Glena (Tim) Green, Mindy Pendergraft, and Stacey (Tim) Leisure; grandchildren, Shalyn (Shawn) Stephenson, Blake Green, Nathan Pendergraft and his girlfriend, Destin Lavins, Todd Leisure, Timothy (Kristen) Leisure, Travis Leisure and his girlfriend, McKenzie Brill; great-grandchildren, Trinity, Serenity, Avery, Liam K., Liam L., Lexi, Maddie, Paitynn, and Collin; siblings, Delcie Bowman, Norma McCown, Patricia Garringer, and Lonnie (Teresea) Copas; sister-in-law, Carol Copas; and special friend, Becky Campbell. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear and special friends.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
