SHARON SUE SLAGER, age 80, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Copper Knoll Health & Rehabilitation Center. She lived most of her life in the New Holland area.
She was born on February 28, 1944 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Clyde Russell and Helen Irene (Spangler) Root. She was a 1962 graduate of New Holland High School. Sharon was a volunteer EMT for the Fayette County Life Squad for seventeen years. She also worked many secretarial jobs throughout her life. She enjoyed crafting, spending time with her grandchildren, and she loved her dogs.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Kenneth Rae Slager; granddaughter, Alisha Nicole Bailey; and brother-in-law, Michael McCormick.
Survivors include her daughters, Lisa (Mark) Bailey, Lori (Todd) Bailey, and Landi (Travis) Fenstermacher; grandchildren, Sarah (Heath Johnson) Bailey, Jessica (Ron) Mader, Kaitlyn Croucher, Chelsea (Morgan) Wages, and Mya Fenstermacher; great-grandchildren, Ronald Mader, Leila Mader, Brody Croucher, and Paityn, Parker, and Preslee Wages; and siblings, Larry (Sue) Root, Janice McCormick, and Penny (Max) Bobst. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Mell Wickensimer officiating with burial to follow at the Range Township Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
