Sheridan Ray Smith Obituary

SHERIDAN RAY SMITH, age 70, of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at his home.

He was born on July 12, 1955 in Washington CH to the late Elmer and Lelia (Dixon) Smith. He attended Miami Trace High School and later obtained his GED. Sheridan also graduated from a Technical Mechanic School in Chillicothe. He worked in concrete; he drove a truck for Dynamic Transit and worked for a nighttime cleaning company at the Sugar Creek Packing Company. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars with his son, and attending horse races to support two of the best in the sport (Jeremy and Parker).

In addition to his parents, Sheridan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tami Sue (Redman) Smith, whom he married on July 28, 1978, and siblings, Harold Smith, Paul Smith, and Teresa Summers.

Survivors include his children, Jeremy (Brandy) Smith, and Ashley Smith; grandchildren, Parker Smith, and Madison (TJ Ervin) West; siblings, Melinda (Johnny) Matson, Tonda (Mike Barnhill) Wilson, Veronica Sterling, and Lloyd (Vickie) Smith; brother-in-law, Jack Redman; special nephew, David Matson; his best friend, Jack (Fantasy) Carr; and his canine companions, Jadie, and Cookie. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
