SUSAN MARIE THOMPSON, age 65, of Washington Court House, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:05 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Signature Health Care of Fayette County. She was born on March 9, 1958 in Fayette County and was the daughter of the late Ward Ervin and Elizabeth Pearl Southworth Brown. On October 27, 1984 she married Gary Dean Thompson who preceded her in death on December 2, 2010.
Susan was a 1977 graduate of Washington Senior High School. She had previously worked as a Records Clerk for Bailey Cavalieri Law Firm in Columbus. Before she was ill, Susan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and her special “fur babies”. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Survivors include her brother, Jeff (Kathy) Brown of Greenfield and their children, Tasha Brown Smith of Grove City and Tyler Brown of Washington C.H.; her mother in-law, Charlotte Thompson; her sister in-law, Toni (Bill) Horney all of Washington C.H. and their children, Ryan (Danny) Carter of Bradenton, Florida and Tori Horney; and her niece, Jessica (Kevin) Henry of Columbus. Also surviving is her uncle, Bill (Judy) Southworth of Orlando, FL and several great-nieces, cousins and many special friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Susan is preceded in death by her uncles, Floyd and Harold Southworth; her aunts, Marie Matson and Helen Parker and her brother in-law, Mark Thompson.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to ProMedica Hospice, especially her special nurses, Crystal Bell and Teresa Smith for the special care and love they provided to Susan and her family the past several months.
In keeping with Susan’s wishes, cremation will take place and no visitation will be held. A private burial of her cremated remains will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in Susan’s name be made to: ProMedica Hospice, 208 N. Fayette Street, Washington C.H., Ohio 43160.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.summersfuneralhome.com
