Sylvia Jean Hinkley

SYLVIA JEAN HINKLEY, age 85, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025 at her home.

She was born on January 15, 1940 in Rodney, Ohio in Gallia County to the late Emmitt and Minnie (Russell) Fowler. Sylvia attended high school and later obtained her GED. She retired from State Farm where she had worked as a secretary for many years. Sylvia attended the South Side Church of Christ until her health would no longer allow. She was a former member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed bowling in her Friday night ladies league, square dancing, traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin “Pat” Hinkley, whom she married on February 5, 1956, and sister, Anna Mae Lunsford.

Survivors include her children, Randy Hinkley, and Jeff (Tami) Hinkley; grandchildren, Cody Huff, Alex Hinkley, Jenna Hinkley, Bailey Hinkley, Heath Hinkley, Brian Hinkley, Charles II (Annie) Dudley, and Brandon (Lynnae) Hinkley; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Melvin Fowler, Mary (Leon) Deihl, and Leona (Glen) Hinkley. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the White Oak Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
