Obituary

VAL RAINES, JR., age 89, of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at his home.

He was born on October 9, 1933 in Ross County, Ohio to the late Val and Marie (Miller) Raines. Val proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as manager for The Ohio Penal Industries. He enjoyed people, interacting and engaging with anyone and everyone, he had the ability to “fix” anything, and he loved spending time with his beloved family.

In addition to his parents, Val was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Raines, Betty (Jack) Brewer, Pauline (Tommy) Adkins, and Buck Raines.

Survivors include his wife, Cleotta V. (Adams) Raines, whom he married on January 15, 1954; his children, Teresa J. (Steve) Merritt, and Rex M. (Karen) Raines; grandchildren, Kelli (Jason) Bullens, Staci Merritt, Tamika (Mark) Mallow, Clayton Raines, Allie Raines, and Torri Raines. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Highlawn Cemetery with Danny Dodds officiating.
