VIRGIL G. “BUTCH” MARTIN, JR., age 62, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 12:06 a.m. at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
He was born on February 15, 1958 in Fayette County to Virgil Sr. and Laura (Stubbs) Martin. He attended Miami Trace High School. Butch was employed at the C&J Auto Repair Shop for many years. He attended the Bible Baptist Temple with his wife, Ruby. Butch was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being with his family.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura Jean Martin; grandson Virgil Garland Martin IV; and sisters, Darlene Forsha, and Bonnie Lou Coy.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby J. (Howe) Martin, whom he married on December 21, 1981; children, Rodney (Tonya) Howe, John (Kelly) Schreckengaust, and Virgil G. III (Jessica) Martin; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; and brother, Ronnie (Janet) Martin. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear and special friends.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Joy Stanforth officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and burial will be held at the Washington Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Those in attendance must wear a mask or other facial covering and are asked to adhere to social-distancing guidelines.
