WENDY KAY MANNING, age 51, of Washington Court House, passed away at 7:53 a.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2023 in the Miami Valley Emergency Room in Jamestown, Ohio. She was born on February 21, 1972 in Washington Court House and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Linda Paul Ward. On July 5, 2008 she married James Manning who survives.
Wendy was a 1990 graduate of Washington Senior High School and has been employed at the Flying J Travel Center since its opening. Wendy was also a graduate of the Ohio State Patrol Police Academy and previously had worked in home healthcare locally. She loved her “weiner” dogs, Ko Ko, Buddy, Shaggy, Freddy, Oscar, Brownie and Puppy Dog. Wendy was also an amazing artist and especially liked to sketch pencil drawings. She also enjoyed gardening, gnomes, fairies and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband James, survivors include her children, Missy Whiddon, Heidi Whiddon and Craig Jones; her grandchildren, Andrew Noel and Larry Howland; her brothers, Joe (Sharon) Ward and Ronnie (Mycki) Ward. Also surviving is her mother in-law, Wilma “Gerry” Manning and several aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Wendy was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Austin Louis Whiddon who preceded her in death on September 16, 1992.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023 in the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, March 9 at the funeral home from 5-7:00p.m.
